Injectables Guide
Half-life, dosage, results — which one is right for you?
Testosterone Enanthate (Test E) and Testosterone Cypionate (Test C) are the two most popular injectable testosterone esters used in bodybuilding and Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT). They are so similar that many people use them interchangeably — but there are a few key differences worth knowing before you choose.
Testosterone Enanthate is a long-acting testosterone ester with a half-life of approximately 4.5 to 5 days. It was one of the first injectable testosterone esters developed and remains one of the most widely used worldwide. It is typically injected twice per week to maintain stable blood levels.
Testosterone Cypionate is a slightly longer-acting ester with a half-life of approximately 5 to 7 days. It is the most commonly prescribed testosterone for TRT in the United States. Like Test E, it is injected once or twice per week.
| Test Enanthate | Test Cypionate | |
|---|---|---|
| Half-Life | 4.5–5 days | 5–7 days |
| Injection Frequency | 2x per week | 1–2x per week |
| Origin | Europe (most popular) | USA (TRT standard) |
| Results | Identical | Identical |
| Best For | Bulking, cutting, TRT | TRT, bulking, cutting |
In terms of results, there is no meaningful difference between Test E and Test C. Both are testosterone — the ester only affects how quickly it releases into your bloodstream. Choose based on availability and personal preference.
If you are doing TRT and injecting once a week, Test C is slightly better due to its longer half-life giving more stable levels. If you are running a performance cycle and injecting twice a week, either works perfectly.
TRT: 100–200mg per week
Beginner cycle: 300–400mg per week for 12 weeks
Intermediate cycle: 400–600mg per week for 14–16 weeks
